Tim, for me u-verse internet is much better than plain AT&T DSL. I was 3 miles from the central office with plain DSL [all copper wire and very marginal]. With u-verse DSL copper is only the first 1,800 ft and the rest is underground fiber. Squirrels cannot sabotage the fiber

The installation technicians can tell you all this if you ask.
