Two TV questions.

We've just moved into a flat with a very nice TV, Blueray player and equalizer. Most everything is hooked up to the TV via HDMI cables.

1. The Blueray player has a USB slot, but when we put a USB flash drive (with a .avi file on it) into the slot, we can't get it to play. There is a section on the remote controls called application, and I can get from there to BD player, which I assume is the blueray disc, and I can get from there to USB. But when I select that, it says it can't find a USB attached, even though the USB is in the blueray player. Any idea how to get the TV to see a USB drive attached to a blueray player?

2. So I connected my regular DVD using 3 cables, a yellow for video and a white and red for sound. But....the picture comes through black and white when it should be in color. Any idea what might cause this? The same DVD player shows color on other TVs.

TIA

Thanks... looks like Colorado is out of luck for the near future, according to that link. It does mention Comcast, which I am currently using for telephone, internet and TV. I think it's way too pricey, but it's about the only game in town. I don't want a dish on my roof as an alternative.
