I do recall going to Havre one time and I took a GPS reading between the Canada and U.S. Customs and the lady border officer was irate about it. I stopped between the portals, exited the vehicle and took my sweet time taking the reading all the time I was being watched by U.S. Customs.

The good lady officer wanted to know what kind of instrument was taking the readings and what I was up to and why I would dare do such a thing. To make it worse I didn't have any photo ID and a couple of axes in the box of the truck and a cigar in the globe box that could have been Cuban but turned out was Dominican. I explained I had the day off and thought I would drive to Havre and buy some U.S. beer and a box of 5th Avenue chocolate bars you can't buy in Canada.

The male U.S. Customs agent looked kind of embarrassed for his side-kick and said enjoy your trip to Havre and in the future have proper ID.

One other time I was going to Vegas and a lady customs agent asked me what the nature of my business was and I replied to see how much beer I can drink. I was checked that time to but it was my own fault. Just smile and be ever so dumb.
