Maybe using Ish's formula RICE, you could stop and get an ACE bandage that might help. At least a plastic ziplock with some ice and an elastic bandage would be part of the answer....that and a good cane for some stability. But hard to get a cane if you are in the woods.... Go slow... and good thoughts are coming with this for your safety.
PS...You will probably get one of your best pictures on this trip as some compensation....<gg>
