I can't imaging that dropping the price by $20, $30 or even $40 would matter a bit to iPhone buyers or attract Android buyers.

What is keeping me from buying is the contract.

I don't think there's anything Apple can do to slow the rise of Android

In the short term, maybe produce a CDMA version and let Verizon sell it. I wonder if anyone has done the math to see how many more iPhones Apple would sell if it did this. How many people would have liked to buy an iPhone but went with Android because of the carrier/coverage issue? What percentage of the Android market do these "reluctant" buyers represent?

Speaking of Android, has anyone checked out the Galaxy S? My initial impression is that the screen, while bright, is painfully over-saturated. My 3GS may look very subdued beside it, but man, the colors appear a whole lot more pleasant and natural.
