But the thought of eliminating the Corps is repulsive. I use to live in El Toro, the civilian community south of the base. I traveled to San Diego many times and have seen the landings you witnessed. The problem is, there is no need for that kind of landing anymore. Even the Corps knows this. That is why they have spent Billions on VTO. So what do they do? We don't need a second "Army." We aren't going to get a "perfect world" solution to this. I suspect we will get a "camel" out of it. Some sort of smaller Corps with no really defined mission.
