In obsessing over taxes, you are missing the bigger picture. Germany's government provides a lot of services to their citizens, such as medical insurance, disability benefits, and unemployment insurance, which frees their businesses from having to pay the costs of those services. This means that even though they are paying their workers more, Germany's business are globally competitive. First, I am not obsessing over taxes - tax the heck out of us. What I am obsessed about is the deficit. ...........There is no magic bucket that the money for the social services you mention here come out of - it comes out of productivity.
