That is part of the scare tactic.

It is like you have $25000 in the bank. You deposit $10 each month for the last 50 years. You are now for demographic reasons taking out $11 a month.

You scare a lot of people by saying it is not sustainable. You will go eventually bankrupt. The truth is, the program is popular. It is needed. And you need to make adjustments every now and then. When demographics change, conditions change.

A means test would take care of SS. Do Buffet and Gates really need SS? As to Medicare, how about addressing cost? BIG disappointment that Obama didn't address this in his health care bill. Sadder yet that republicans sat on their hands rather than become more engaged. .....Remember we pay like double what the rest of the industrial countries do on health care - how about putting us more in line with what they pay?
