Part of that fix was funding it and there is likely nothing that is more unfair than to now pretend after we have paid into it all these years at a higher rate that it is gone because the government borrowed the money to fund crap like the wars. I would personally like to help tar and feather any congressperson who now pretends that money doesn't exist. Supposedly, the average (current..) retiree now pulls down much more than they paid in, if the same money they had contributed had been set aside and put into Treasuries. (That came from the a Liberal think tank..not a conservative one..I'll see if I can find the link..)
