Alcohol tax to fund the cop shop? Why penalize responsible alcohol consumption?
I drank my share but quit 22 yrs ago come Sunday. At the time I quit, the statistics said alcohol consumption followed the 90-10 rule... 10% of the drinkers consumed 90% of the booze. Taxes would not harm responsible drinkers since the brunt is paid by the 10%.

Why not simply increase the DUI fines 10-fold or whatever and make them install these breathalyser car start gismos?

Again, why should nondrinkers pay to allow drinkers to put others lives in jeopardy? Why not consider a DUI the same as shooting off a firearm in a crowd? Why not shoot third offenders and give 20+ in prison to second offenders? Me... don't like laws and prefer FREE MARKET solutions where those that choose to use a product pay for the consequences. IT would hurt the stocks of these companies so I don't expect the laws to change as they give too much to politicians.

Also, how does your solution pay for domestic abuse cases?
