9/24/10 Update Was Wall Street prematurely celebrating a Republican sweep of Congress in November? Perhaps. But, whatever the reason, it was certainly a fun party this week and the TGIF toasts brought back memories of the good old days. At Friday’s close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 4.94% YTD (vs. up 2.05% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 7.29% YTD (vs. up 4.58% YTD a week ago). The Contest median was up 7.18% YTD (vs. up 3.54% YTD a week ago). ROCKY’s portfolio (up 36.33% YTD) kept the Contest lead, while FILO's portfolio (up 25.97% YTD) barely held on to second place over third place WILDER’s portfolio (up 25.75% YTD). At Friday's close, a remarkable 24 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black with 15 of the 32 beating the NBI. Portfolio adjustments: PPCO was bought by Endo Pharmaceuticals for $5 per share. I used this Friday’s (9/24) closing prices for the reallocation. RKRW’s portfolio (which has now crept up to fourth place) was the sole holder of PPCO. Below is the Top Ten list.
