China VOLUNTARILY sent troops into NK from being defeated for their BLATANT AGGRESSION (shades of Vietnam). We didn't want anything to do with fighting China. Our intelligence ignored warnings from India that China was preparing to intervene. But China had no right to come to NK's defense in defiance of the UNSC. It was pretty clear cut.. NK invaded SK. The UN was able to muster a UNSC vote to send troops because the USSR abstained (a mistake they didn't make again). Therefore, in blatant defiance of the UNSC, China supported NK's aggression. in asia we do not actually believe invaders should be afforded hotel treatment when there are no hotels available. So who was invading who? Those were UN FORCES that the Chinese and NK forces tortured, starved and killed. And still no apology from NK or China for those war crimes. And those captured Chinese and NK soldiers were damn lucky they were treated according to the Geneva conventions.the current policy is to invade afghanistan. yes? I think you're about 9 years late for that.. Now it's to repel TALIBAN INVADERS and create an Afghan government that can govern and defend it's population. And btw, the Taliban kill FAR MORE CIVILIANS (including children) than any errant bombs/bullets from US soldiers. And they do it DELIBERATELY.pakistan is just about to become a failed state as cambodia was made to fail. yes? Pakistan has been a "failed state" since the 1990's (or even earlier). It's on the verge of a civil war between Muslim fundamentalists/Jihadists and secularists. If they could control their borders and prevent Taliban forces from invading Afghanistan, there wouldn't be any reason for drone attack or bombings. What has China's role been in helping Afghanistan to secure it's borders, other than mining their copper ore under US protection?shoot defenseless civilians under the bridges enmass. Yep.. it apparently happened, but as I understand it, it was done out of fear that NK forces were intermingled with the civilian population, using them as human shields. Now.. since you brought up the subject, why were they fleeing Communist troops?pbs.org But we know the WAR CRIMES COMMITTED BY Chinese/NK forces against UN FORCES in Korea:loc.gov The Sunchon tunnel massacre was even more brutal. On Oct. 30, 1950, 180 American POWs who had survived the Seoul-Pyongyang death march and had been without food for four or five days were killed in this way: "Late in the afternoon, the prisoners were taken from the railroad cars in alternate groups of approximately 40 to nearby ravines, ostensibly to receive their first food in several days, and they were ruthlessly shot by North Korean soldiers using Russian burp guns. One hundred and thirty-eight U.S. soldiers lost their lives in these atrocities." Pfc. John E. Martin of Ferndale, Mich., attached to the 29th Regimental Combat Team, was one of the survivors of the Sunchon tunnel massacre. He described the entire Communist operation to the Potter committee. He related that prisoners were ordered to crouch, as against an air attack. ..... ....Captured by Chinese forces while enroute to the Chosin Reservoir, American prisoners were marched up the mountain to the Communist prison camp, comprising three unheated sheds. Treffery related to Potter:"They took our heavy clothing, and shoes, and left us with only a pair of fatigues. It was about 20 below zero ... we found out, when we backtracked on Dec. 1 to the point of capture, that our wounded had not been returned to the American lines, as promised in the surrender agreement. "Our wounded were still lying there, all frozen ... we marched two days. The first night we got some hay and slept in the hay, cuddling together to keep warm. The second night we slept in pigpens. That night I froze my feet.... I got marching the next 16 days after that. During that march all the meat had worn off my feet, all the skin had dropped off, nothing but the bones showing. After arriving at Kanggye, they put us up in mud huts. There we remained until early January 1951. Then they moved us in oxcarts about 10 miles south of Kanggye, until April 25.findarticles.com Now.. why don't you tell about "Death by a 1000 cuts", a Chinese practice that Mao's wife seemed to favor:youtube.com Btw, have you ever thought of making a Chinese version of the "Faces of Death" film series? Seems you'd have an abundance of material to select from right there at home.. ;0) Hawk
