My understanding is that VLNC is manufacturing 4x4 cells and hooking them together rather than using an 8x10 cell that they have found the 8x10 cells more volatile and difficult to work with as a result of their work in the GM/Delco auto battery venture. As a result line 1 is producing samples with a smaller footprint than the 8x10. My feeling is also that sooner or later VLNC and perhaps ULBI will be capable of volume production of 8x10s.
