No, this is not accurate. I have made it clear that I abhor the idea of protesting at funeral, and you know me well enough to know that I would never adopt a politically correct stance on any issue.

Cage wrote: Any issue such as we see here, demonstrating at a funeral, is so obviously wrong that that should be an a priori legal assumption as with my necrophilia example.

Again, we are in agreement, Cage. If only everyone thought as sanely as you, me, and 90 percent of the participants in this thread. Right? -g-

But... My point was not that protesting at a funeral is obviously wrong, but rather, if the SCOTUS rules that the first amendment does not protect protesting at a funeral, it will open the door to those who want the SCOTUS to also rule that the first amendment does not protect any political speech, such as conservative talk shows and perhaps discussion forums such as The Obama Disaster.

Do you see what I am driving at here?

Yes, I would ban protesting at funerals in a heartbeat, but, no, I would not want my right to post political commentary, nor the rights of Rush, Hannity, Savage, et al., to broadcast their political commentary, to become threatened as an unintended consequence of banning funeral protests.

As sure as God made little green apples, if the SCOTUS rules that funeral protests are not protected by the first amendment, Leftists will engage in a full-scale assault on conservative speech everywhere, regardless of form.
