There are places in which protests are if not prohibited by act, they are punished all the same. Freedom of speech does not apply in the courtroom, to members of the Armed Forces, to Federal Officers, Agents etc. There are certain circumstances, surroundings and occasions that simply should not be interrupted by outbursts and other such displays. I don't see it as a slippery slope if they were to declared funerals among those areas and activities protected from disruption, distraction and or painful abuse. They certainly would be arrested if they entered a school building and started creaming at a Downs Syndrome child that the cause of his/her affliction were the sins of the parents. It would just add one small activity in which protests, disruptive activities and abuse were not tolerated due to the compromise of individual rights.

See there we are, caught in a catch 22 – you are damned if you do -- damned if you don't. John, I don't think we have any disagreement, but the national psychosis does need analysis. This logic has produced such inane Constitutional rights as burning the flag and accepting a crucifix in a bottle of urine as artful expression. Without common sense, including a shared moral/ethical standard, both political positions, conservative and progressive alike, become nothing beyond irreconcilable political delusions to be exploited by progressives “playing” the judicial system. Further, until the existing ethical/moral incongruence and shared apathy concerning truthfulness are reversed, I venture to predict that all US political interaction will be non-productive, incomprehensible, and chaotic.
