Sadly, as it usually happens, a few radicals (e.g., in this case, funeral protesters) may ruin freedom and liberty for the rest of society.

This is exactly what happens when an unhealthy cacophony of political voices, worldviews, and social ideologies collide.

We've all seen the outcomes of everyone suffering because of the actions of one or a few.

In grade school, a kid was throwing entire rolls of toilet paper in the toilet. The principle locked down the restroom for the remainder of the school year. Entry was only permitted with adult supervision, on a case-by-case basis. Everyone was punished for the actions of one.

In high school, a kid climbed out of a classroom window and smoked in the bushes. As a consequence, the principle closed all windows and locked them, permanently. It was as hot as hell in the late spring! Everyone was punished for the actions of one.

In grad school, a woman on my team failed to complete her portion of a team assignment. The entire team had to select and complete a different assignment as a result. Many weeks of work were wasted. Everyone was punished for the actions of one.

In 2010, a few idiots protest at a funeral and shout vile comments at a grieving family. As a result, the Supreme Court may decided to limit free speech. Who knows how far the limits will reach beyond funeral protests? Everyone is punished for the actions of a few.

Liberty and freedom slip further and further away, always due to over-reactions by those in authority, and an unwillingness to hold only those responsible accountable for their actions.
