Yes, it's been busy but fun. Even the trip to St. Louis.....

One thing that was a bit distressing about that trip....I stayed overnight in the Northwestern suburbs, near the airport. Drove for a bit on a highway called the "Old St. Charles Road", which apparently is a remnant of Route 66. Lots of older buildings there, fast food joints, and a Wal-Mart. Seems like all the businesses that had persevered prior to the death star (AKA "Wal-Mart") arrived were out of business or otherwise imperiled. Just an observation, but sad to see. Wal-Mart of course was jammed.

The other observation (and I've only made one other plane trip in the last few years) is that airlines have learned much from their friends in the financial service industry, now charging egg-management fees for everything from baggage check in to the right to use a faster TSA screening line. Didn't we the sheeple bail these guys out 9 years ago, to maintain a "thriving and competitive" airline industry? F that, I'll drive from here on out. Or charter a jet.
