I remember studying about that in college. It's all well and good but there are large segments of the human population that will simply breed as long as resources allow. It's instinct and they don't have the ability to mentally override it. The planet cannot support that

What you are thinking will work for some segments of society, but it won't work across the board.

I think we need to replace our "growth" paradigm. We're reaching or already past the sustainability limits of this planet. Hundreds of extinct species argue we're past it.

If we want to keep growing, we'll have to get off the planet, and on other planets. If we continue with the growth paradigm, the Earth will be trashed by then, devastated by too many humans fighting for too few resources. By resources, I mean air and water. I foresee a time in the future where we have to buy breathable air, from the air companies that make it.

I'd rather we take a path where we take up the management of this gift of this planet, including all it's species and flora, and begin to limit our numbers and deprivations. We COULD make life better for ourselves and all the inhabitants of this world, instead of doing the opposite.

Unless we do something like that, I think we'll reach a point where we realize we're a self-terminating species, and we've doomed ourselves.
