Thin prep slides by Cytyc are just a better way to make slides (and more expensive) than the conventional way of smearing a slide with the specimen. Since the AcCell system is designed to read slides ....any kind of slide....then they can read the thin prep slides. Accumed has its own sales force now....and they will provide the main emphasis for sales in the U.S.....Olympia did not do a good job....usual order taking distributor and not agressive.....so they are being phased out now, I believe....at any rate they will have only a minor role in sales, if any.
