I'm not trying to incite a riot on this thread, although I can surely expect the likely outcome. It appears yet another "Fab is on the Fence". Throw away those P/E's and use price to sales ratios! When push outs in DRAM Land start Dr. Moore will not save the DUV group. The following article sounds like Japan is getting cold feet! Fasten your seat belts, and don't bottom fish yet! NEC is losing big bucks with 16 megs at $4.50!

NEC Has Yet To Commit To $1B Fab

NEC still has not made a final decision on building a new billion dollar fab at its Roseville, Calif., site, despite reports in the Japanese press that construction would start in 1999, an NEC America spokeswoman said on Monday.

The Japanese chip maker has previously acknowledged that any expansion at Roseville, when it comes, will require building a new fab. But NEC has consistently backed away from setting any definite timetable for launching the new U.S. fab.

Newspapers in Japan said NEC would build the new U.S. plant and use 0.22-micron processes to make 64-megabit and 128-megabit DRAMs<Picture>.

There was speculation that NEC might rig any new U.S. fab for next-generation 300-millimeter wafer production, since a reported year 2000 start is in line with the industry's expected timetable for new fabs coming online with the larger size wafers. NEC Has Yet To Commit To $1B Fab

Steven,

Down five straight days since hitting $23.75 on Nov. 3rd.
The entire tech sector for the most part is getting battered;
it's not just Cymer, of course. We'll see a turnaround. One
just has to be very patient with those issues that have solid
fundamentals and prospects, which is the reason they were
bought in the first place.

Keep the faith, Allan

<<Has anyone counted how many days in a row we have closed down? Could
tomorrow be the day we close flat or up?? Stay tuned.>>

It is more insidiuos than how many days in a row it has closed down, it breaks support to close at new lows, and then comes part way back only to search for a new low a day or few later. I can see we will be in the teens before we see a recovery for the stock. Still long on this stock and maybe longer than I planned, <G>.
