From PC Week gossip columnist Spencer F. Katt:

"Tips on the telcos: A Mouser maniac says Bell Atlantic's InfoSpeed ISP division is having major problems providing consistent 128K-bps Internet access services with the Cisco 5200-series modems it purchased."

An opening for Ascend?

a $15 point surge is possible, i suppose. But that doesn't answer the question as to how ASND can be negotiating something today. Also, if such a surge were to happen, I would think any buyer would want to see the price stabilize for awhile before using it as a base point to calculate an offer. Again an acquisition is far off.
any thoughts?

Forget the $15 surge; you won't get $1 up, as long as COMS, CSCO and all the other techs are tanking.
This is what happens when people invest in stocks without a stop-loss
order.
I was in this dog too! But took my loss when it broke 35, on the way
down from 37. $2-4 loss beats being caughtin this falling knife.
Everybody in this thread has a loss on this stock.
If you really believe that there is a chance of a takeover and are afraid to sell the stock, buy your selves short term puts-22 1/2's and
25 "s if you have some money left.
The stock has broken all support: 40, 35. No one can tell where the bottom is. But don't compound your mistakes by buying more on every down-tick. At least if you are going to average down, average down when the whole sector turns around.
Alwys keep a stop and hedge with cheap options.
Good luck,
Orhan
