Peter:

Mory knows that he would more bang for bucks if he waits further and open his mouth. Soon for the same amount of cash you are suggesting he can buy twice the number of shares.

ASND can do a mother of all short sales on its own stock. IOM did it back in 1996. In the summer of 1996, IOM had a secondary offering selling its stock at $35. A few months later in the teens, they announced a stock repurchase when IOM was trading in the teens. I must say, this short seller was very impressed. Technically, it wasn't a short sale, however mechanically it was.

ASND is sitting on a huge pile of cash. They should announce a stock repurchase plan for up to 10M shares.

I don't believe ASND will do such a thing because it will (1) reduce the takeover margin and (2) use up cash that the acquirer would want.

Interesting thought:-

>ASND is sitting on a huge pile of cash. They should announce a stock repurchase plan for up to 10M shares. That would cost ASND about only 30% of the cash they have now and it really would stablize the stock price. If the stock continues to slide, I believe the board of rectors would have to come up something. <<

Could that be why insiders sold? A scheem to buy back shares at these rock bottom prices.

That would make a by-out more attractive.
