You're assuming assistance was even requested. Even at the time, it looked to me like the Obama administration quickly began sending out checks to the states before any measure of true economic damage could be ascertained. I had the impression that that part of the stimulus money was being sent out proportionately to every state and more along the lines of a pre-emptive move by the government. To keep states from laying off teachers, etc.

Having said this, let me make clear, however, that if the fed. govt. has decided to spread out some money, I expect my state reps to grab their piece of it whether we actually need it or not. That's just commonsense and good business. Same goes for pork. If the government wants to be foolish, I see no constructive reason for Arkansas to take a high minded approach and turn it down.

I didn't turn back my government stimulus checks either. Did you?

You painted a picture of well-managed self-reliance that doesn't ring true given that assistance number.

Another strawman. You're manufacturing a false conclusion.
