I disagree completely that we have gone downhill for 200 years;

Name any era since the founding where we had leaders that began to approach either the brilliance or the sincere dedication and unity of purpose with regard to the country.

It has been nothing but partisan bickering ever since, reaching a crescendo this century, the Civil War era notwithstanding..

The needs of the country have been secondary since the founding.
