Now they want to reduce economic policy to a new version of "American Idol" with crowds to cheer on their favorites.

It's way beyond silly but not surprising, sad to say. Some folks just never get beyond the high school football stadium mentality.

Actually, Ferguson is a trained historian, not an economist. Murphy is a trained economist and more than a match for the likes of Krugman.
