Dear J.F. I was thinking along those lines as well. To take a tax loss one must have made profits. The interuption of this years junior market by Bre-X and the POG decline would on surface appear to lessen the impact of tax loss selling this year. And the recent correction on the big markets has limited the amount of profits made on blue chips as well.

If there is any person with a different view on this, especially as it pertains to Winspear, please post.

Could you elaborate on "how the houses are positioning themseles now".
How does one know when Cannacord, for example, is buying for their
own account as opposed to a customer's account?

The Financial Post had the uncoverd shorts listed a couple of days
ago. If I remember correctly, the shorts, 155,000, were covered so
as Oct. 31 there were no uncovered shorts. Is this a signal that
the shorters are assuming a bottom has been reached?

Sorry if these are rather naive questions. I'm afraid that there's
much I'd like to know but I have to start where with the simple
things. At least listening to you guys, I now know about covered
and uncovered shorts in the Canadian system.
