I remember that HP product.

Intel has also fabbed for QualComm and others. I remember QualComm coming back to Intel after getting their test wafers and asking what it would cost to get every lot processed that way. Huh? Said Intel. Qualcomm said they never saw yield like that before from their other foundries and what would it cost to get all their material processed that way. "It's standard material" said Intel...

Too bad Nvidia acted like such a crybaby. Imagine what it would do to AMD if Intel processed wafers for Nvidia!

Nice try.

Intel bought HP's FAB 3 in Hudson New York as part of the deal to learn how to make a VLIW chip. As part of the deal they had to keep Fabbing the HP chips HP had been making in its fab. HP staff (well, ex-HP staff) continued to make HP chips on HP's process for a couple years after the sale.

But, like I said, nice try.
