What a rhubarb....

The constitutional interpretation (of 'commerce clause') underlies nearly ALL of the expansion of federal authority in recent decades.

You carve away that bogus interpretation (as I'd sure like to) and MUCH of the federal edifice erected in recent decades must fall away (including the Big Brother programs that *you* seem to be so enamored of and don't want to give up, Bill).

If the feds can assert that they have CONTROLLING authority over, say, some guy in the heart of Kansas who might grow a little pot for his own exclusive use and none of which ever enters into inter-state commerce nor crosses a state line... then they can sure claim that they have preemptive authority over, say, the much larger and inter-linked insurance market. It's all part and parcel of the same expansion of federal power into areas previously reserved for the states.

You can't have the one without the other....
