Platitudes (even if based in some actual facts) don't cut much ice when faced with the needs of acting in a crisis. (And... it is HARD to look at that chart and imagine that the Reagan/Bush/Bush II so-called 'plans' to 'reduce federal deficits' have been anything but an unmitigated FAILURE.) The had achievements in other areas but DEFICIT REDUCTION was manifestly not one of them! If twenty years of modern American history doesn't convince you of that then nothing ever will I suspect.
