The question has come up about fusion memory recently. It looks like low memory prices have killed it.
An interesting comment was made by someone who know the comapny well was made to me recently. He said that was that IDTI (it's management), like to dabble and invest earnings in many areas that really do not have any pay back, and in fact de-focus the comapnay away from it's core strengths. My question is that IDTI has many equity investments in QED, Ipsilon, and other that generate no revenue. What shareholder value do these bring? Also waht is IDTI doing about their loss of QED for their MIPS designs. Do they have the architects and MIPS expertise in house? If not they are going to de-focus from MIPS and loss the 70 million revenues (high margin) from the MIPS business. This could be a fast growing product line but I think now they are X86 crazed. Can IDTI sell 700,000 Winchips a year to make up for the loss of the MIPS business if they forgot about it (and developing new products). Maybe someone can fill me in on their strategy? The embedded market is hugh and MIPS could easily be 200-300 million if they focus. QED will end up eating their lunch (and dinner) if they are not careful. And who is to say that Winchip will do anything. It is a nice growth opportunity for IDTI but at the same time they can't forget about their core business. By the way has anyone called IR lately. I wondering how October looked for them?
