IMO, if we had knocked down the start of the Berlin wall when they begin, they would have stopped. Same thing in '48. If Truman had sent a column to Berlin when they closed the border, we would never have needed the airlift. Revisionist history, I know.

At one time the Soviets had 50,000 T34s which were the worlds best tanks. If they had rolled through the Fulda Gap, going nuke would have been the only option.
