I recall a program or article that said every commander engaged in war game scenarios against the Soviets in Europe was forced to go nuclear. That sounds like what you're talking about.


Either that or it would have started another major but very brief war.

That is about 60:1 odds in favor of them.

Any war would have gone Nuke and the Soviets knew what we didn't. They had a Potemkin Army, Navy, Air Force and Nuke capability. In 48 they didn't have Nukes.
