Re buyouts:

My record on buyouts is very mediocre. Even this year with a lot of takeovers and private equity buyouts, I have 1.5 takeovers out of ~70 positions. Last year, I think it was 1 takeover. And I think a lot of my positions are in companies that could be bought out. :) So I am very hesitant to buy something because I think it will be taken over. :)

Right, I agree that CVX is cheap also, but as you're implying, CVX is way off it's 2009 lows. TOT and E are somehow within earshot of those lows, even with Oil at $85. It's partially a sector play to me in that when demand catches supply (1, 5, 10 years? Who knows?), all of the oil companies are going to be loved.

I continue to buy unloved companies. CSCO, MSFT, TOT, E. When I think of 'value' stocks, I'm looking for the unloved and unappreciated. :) I'm not buying every unloved stock, but that's where I start my research.

Picked up some SVU this week for the same reason.

Thanks,
