I think that the important point is that the more we dance around doing proper screening by doing more and more elaborate item screening, the less safe we will be. Like you said, there is an illusion of security. And that illusion lulls us into a false complacency. The pornoscan and gropescan are wrong at a 4th amendment level. But more importantly they are ineffective. I believe that I could smuggle a couple of ounces of explosives right through both the pornoscan and gropescan. But I wouldn't make it through two questions by a uniformed law enforcement officer....or a dog. in other words, I think we are in violent agreement.
