From your statement it appears that you are presuming that the govt uses the money wisely. I think that often it doesnt and that many of its programs or efforts are not very effective. You may be thinking that the key to a successful country is a large govt. I do not. I prefer helping others on my own or through charities with my time and money rather than through the govt. via more taxes. Not wanting higher taxes does not necessarily mean one is selfish or has a me first attitude. Neil There is me. I can see beyond the incremental change in my next paycheck to a country that is either bankrupt or falling to 3rd world infrastructure status. Generation after generation have payed higher tax rates than we are paying to keep this country first. Now the "I want everything for nothing" generation comes along and allows my beloved country to crumble into disrepair. It's disgustingly selfish and a betrayal of future and past generations
