Hi Shane, I'm back from Mental Siberia. Nothing concentrate (actually distracts) the mind like watching my LSI's (stocks & options) tank while studying for SOA exams! Well for better or for worst I'm now in passive investment mode. That AMAT stock looks awefully tempting tho. You're right tho, stock promiscuity is an aweful thing.

Actually bad short-term timing is my middle name. For example, I bought Citicorp @ 14 back in 1990, saw the stock go to 10 for a scary period. Bought Borland @ 9 a couple years back, saw it go to 7, rode it all the way to 20, THEN thinking it's safe to add more; the stock promptly detonated back to 7. Citicorp, of course, had a happy ending. But when I bought in 1990, I was totally oblivious to the fact that it was technically insolvent. I only bought it because we bank over there. How's that for investing: investing in a teetering bank that also has all your family's savings. Now THAT's double or nothing. Borland is still a work-in-progress. The stock has rutted in my portfolio for so long that I sort of block it out. Now it's back to 10-11, making yet another gallant run (hopefully not for the hill). It's only because that I faithfully upgrade from Turbo Pascal 3.0 to Delphi 3.0 that I've kept the stock around sort of like a war wound to strut around to scare little children.
