"The economy can't afford that now " Now that is just an untested theory. We have no way of knowing it, cuz nobody will test it. Let's see what happens. After all, economics claims to be a science. What we know for certain is that cutting spending will cause a relapse, per FDR. We're willing to do that again, but why repeat a failed experiment? What if "they" are wrong about letting this expire? Be a shame not to find out. After all, listening to "them" is how we got here.
