From time to time I would like to post some of my thoughts, just to stimulate thought, not necessarily response, as welcomed as it will be accepted.. Our relationship with God is "contractual", which serves to establish our faith, it gives God a people he can call his own, and it establishes the framework around which our relationship with God grows. Mankind, therefore got our idea of the contract from God. I believe that you could reach the conclusion that God approves of the idea of a contract. Any lawyer will tell you there has to a certain conditions met before a valid contract exists. 1. willing parties on both sides. 2. date 3. witness 4. signature 5. consideration Of course our relationship with God is a covenant relationship outlined in the New Testament. And I would point out some characteristics of that relationship. 1. Christ willingly went to the cross and every Christian must willingly accept Him. 2. The date of the contract was the Day Christ arose from the grave, not the day he died....everyone knows a contract with a dead man is void...but this is our knowledge that HE LIVES.. 3. The witness was public that he died, public that he arose. 4. When he arose he went to the FATHER, the work of Calvary was complete, the FATHER, accepted the terms of the contract and the contract was signed in blood. 5. The consideration of our contract , or that which passes of value is the tithe and offering. Just as the one dollar or five dollars which is the nominal amount exchanged in most earthly contracts, also the tithe or offering is also to GOD a nominal amount.....however when accepted completes the contract...........IN CHRIST........hope this is food for thought...gregor
