CB, unlike nearly all other animals, people are highly tribal. So a homosexual or George Washington doesn't need to personally reproduce to replicate their DNA. They can best do that by making their tribe very successful.

If one person can make a billion even distantly related people succeed by inventing language, or mobile cyberspace, or the wheel, then that's much more advantageous to their genes than by having half a dozen of their own children who would not achieve more than simply increasing the pressure on limited food resources.

Yes, DNA beats written records. Give it a few years and human movement over 100,000 years will be pinned down quite well.
