If every winter was like this one, it wouldn't be a bad thing for me. Had a little snow, but lots of rain. I don't care if there is snow in NY and London. If I did, I'd prolly live there.

We actually get a lot of floods and mudslides. This year is just once more. Too many people living in places they shouldn't be, paving hills that used to soak up water.

Borrowing a trillion from China to give tax cuts is nothing. Any politician can do that. But try to cut defense that bush doubled for no damn reason. Cut 400 billion from the defense budget and reorganize medicare and raise social security taxes on rich and raise taxes on rich.

Tom Friedman talks about this. What hard things have we done? The next two years all the Republican house is going to do is more of the same tax cuts for the rich and defense and cut social programs.

Obama had a chance to stop the Republicans destroying the country, but he didn't focus on it. Clinton left us in good shape and Bush squandered it all.

Germany is running at 9% GDP and has unions, welfare payments more generous than ours and all the rest.

So why are they doing so well? They invest monster amounts of money in education and research. The nest republican congress will never do that. In fact they want to get rid of the Dept of education.

We used to be first in education and health, but now we are in the middle of the pack in everything.

The single largest thing we can do to improve our lot is to increase education and give money to universities for R and D.
