We need to make a clean sweep of our current oppression. If marijuana ends up part of that so be it.

Neither party is supporting the public on this topic

I don't recall seeing any evidence that the most of the public would be for legalization of marijuana. Are they? I simply don't know. This could be no more than a perception among some of us -- in which case a push towards legalization may, politically, have a rather negative effect.

Change in marijuana policy could shift that perception.

Tough headwinds there.

Current policy keeps the vice squad and narcs employed, keeps the growers wealthy and untaxed (why NorCal voted against legalization), keeps the prisons full and the prison guard unions well funded.

Policy will change, eventually, but I wonder if it will be before or after Mexico implodes into total anarchy, which will sure as hell cause major negative implications for this country..

Whichever party goes for it will win a gain in public perception.

How do you square that statement with the initiative vote in California?

Gersh

I dont know what crowd you run with but I do not believe supporting legalization of marijuana would be a plus for any political party. I know I would not view it as a positive development, nor would many of my friends.

Neil
