Pound for pound, a pound of $100 US is worth twice as much as the equivalent pound of gold.

So if I'm going to rob a bank, or a home, I'd prefer cash over gold... ;O)

352 ounces x $1400/ounce (gold) = $492,800

I will admit this is an interesting manner in which to compare and contrast respective value.
