RE:So instead of thirty to 40 cups of coffee, I'll drink 4 or 5 in a day.

Are you serious? 40 cups is getting close to half the lethal dose.

Dexedrine is also prescribed today.

If its the same medication as I think it is - it inhibits your sleep.....
I (and many students) used to pop a couple of pills every night- during exam time - kept us awake for last minute study for the exams....yeah I know we should have studied thru the year....

In the first Gulf War, the pilots of the B2 bombers were given Desoxin tablets and told to medicate as needed to stay alert during the thirty hour long flight.

They still get popped by the SpecOps guys who need a "stay awake" to keep up their tremendous OpTempo..

And then they get Ambien provided to help them come down..

I know this from personal experience because I needed Ambien to help me sleep since I worked night shift during my last year in Iraq. And the medic I got them from was a SpecOp Doc..

The mission tempo these guys operate on is amazing..
