At the first glance the split does not look like a good thing to do. Why does a 28$ stock need to split? it is easily affordable. Also, why announce it at this inopportune time in the market? Today the amrket broke down through all index supports and may go down some more. IOM could actually go down on the news of split like AMAT did if the news is not strong enough. Also, it kind of gives a feeling that the directors do not see that it will go up significantly up in the near future (otherwise they could have waited).
