That's what I was thinking. AMAT, TXN, CPQ, all tanked after split announcement or implementation. But, they are all perceived to be affected by Asia weakness. I'm watching carefully to see what happens here. If we break down at all, I'm outta here and I'll be ticked off about having to do it after all this time.

Why are we focused on $28? By the time the stock split it will not be $28. (IMO). Look at it as an early Xmas present. (Dec 22).

M. Carter....keep in mind that the split is toward the end of December. Hopefully the price will not be anywhere near $30/share..;)

but...<Why does a 28$ stock need to split? it is easily affordable.>

Who is this easily affordable to? There are many people who would buy a $14 stock every day of the week and wouldn't touch $28. Remember this action is NOT dilutive to the stock.

Maybe all of us rich SI traders/investors should keep a keen on on the little guy....isn't that Kim Edwards strategy with his products?

I am happy about this...there could be some momentum ...PLUS all the great news...!!!!

Linda

I think it's an opportune time to split to contain the perceived high the stock may gain from current and new announcements, increased production capacity, new products and OEM's. You can be reasonably assured that with all moving forces now in place that this stock will be trading much higher by Q1/98 earnings announcement. I for one would rather see this stock in approximately the same range then as it is now, with twice as many shares, rather than approaching the highs of last year with today's amount of shares.

The coming split is in fact a strong indication that the directors expect the price to increase significantly in the near future.
