The FBI says more than 100 million background checks have been made in the past decade, leading to more than 700,000 denials. In other words, fewer than 1% of those who apply are turned down. Guess what? If your sheriff had been doing his job and followed up the numerous complaints on the asshole that did the shooting, he wouldn't have been able to purchase a legal gun. Instead his office just blew them off. The system would have worked like it was supposed to. The Tucson massacre has already happened in this country's history countless times with all manner of weaponry. Of course it's going to happen again. Has zero to do with legal purchases of guns in America. I would hazard a guess that firearm sales are going up because the general populace is afraid of what our economic policies are going to cause in the not so disant future and they feel the need to defend themselves. I know I do.
