How many more excuses are you going to float? How many more denials are you going to make?

A country that lives by the gun dies by the gun. And the GOP, the assassin's party, has made sure that this country has more than enough guns. We can go on and on about how Loughner was crazy or his winger parents failed to deal with him or that the college that kicked out should have done more or the sheriff should have arrested him and had him committed.

But those are all sidebars. The bottom line: the US is a violent country made that way by the assassin's party and maintained that way by the assassin's party and its cohort.

All wingers who fight gun control in this country and encourage anarchy when they don't get their way are as guilty as if they pulled the trigger themselves. End of discussion.

The FBI says more than 100 million background checks have been made in the past decade, leading to more than 700,000 denials. In other words, fewer than 1% of those who apply are turned down.

Guess what? If your sheriff had been doing his job and followed up the numerous complaints on the asshole that did the shooting, he wouldn't have been able to purchase a legal gun. Instead his office just blew them off. The system would have worked like it was supposed to. The Tucson massacre has already happened in this country's history countless times with all manner of weaponry. Of course it's going to happen again. Has zero to do with legal purchases of guns in America. I would hazard a guess that firearm sales are going up because the general populace is afraid of what our economic policies are going to cause in the not so disant future and they feel the need to defend themselves. I know I do.

in my state, no one can get into a courthouse without first going through a metal detector.

let's see ,..., what would be simpler, get metal detectors anywhere there is concern for security, or start attacking the 2nd amendment and undo the constitution many have sworn to uphold?

Second Amendment - Bearing Arms:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

..................

If the victim had been Gabrielle the bus driver instead of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, it would have barely registered a few words at the bottom of the CNN news ticker.

..........................

t was only a matter of time before the Gabrielle Giffords tragedy was turned into a rationale for the government to take more of our freedoms. This is how our government always responds to tragedy – it's almost formulaic:

Step 1 – wait for tragedy to occur, or actually create the tragedy.

Step 2 – spread propaganda through the media, so everyone believes your story about the tragedy.

Step 3 – pass laws, or institute policies, that take away people's freedoms.

Step 4 – justify the increased Tyranny by citing the propaganda in step 2.

This same process, has led to the creation of most traffic laws, to the Patriot Act, to "enhanced pat-downs," and countless other usurpations of freedom.

Shortly after Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head by a psychopath, and the media started reporting about Sarah Palin's crosshair map (which, as far as we know had nothing at all to do with the shooting), I began wondering how long it would be before we started seeing attacks on our freedoms.

In particular, I was expecting attacks on the second amendment because Jared Loughner used a gun;

and I expected attacks on free speech (and proposals for more control of the Internet) because Jared Loughner spoke out against the government on YouTube and Facebook.
