I can go with Goldberg's notion of soft fascism. He's offered up some wonderful examples of the liberal, cult like thinking that fit the definition. At the same time, aren't there threads of soft fascism woven throughout our opinionated society and among all political affiliations?

Maybe the truest libertarian might manage to escape that pejorative but even they have strong ideas about how society should be structured and wouldn't mind overpowering the rest of us to bring their vision to pass.
