Larry, why would you hope I get burned? I am trying to invest wisely and you are hoping I get burned? What kind of a person are you? I have enough experience to know that the P/E game for valuation is misleading to say the least. I am basing valuation on the sector, the sentiment, near-term fundamentals (bad), and world financial uncertainty. I am also looking at statistics that show that the smart money has been moving out of this market now for 2 months.

Larry, I am impressed by your posts and welcome your opinion. I took a position in ASND in the high 30s and just bought some more yesterday at 23. I'm not a networking guy, but after looking at ASND's product line, and with the anouncement today about ASND outperforming BAY and the "cheat" testing of CSCO's 5300, it seems that the technology part of the equation is strong. The open question is their management. My interpretation of the recent trouble is:

The Street resents ASND management for not providing accurate guidance (Dahl seems to be the culprit). I think the management deserves the benefit of the doubt, given they are a young company and have grown so quickly, and it looks like by bringing in Ashby at CFO they are starting to take the necessary steps to fix this problem; i.e. anticipate financial results and "manipulate" them the way the Street likes.

Do you agree with my hypothesis? My biggest fears about ASND (which I hope are not true) are:

1) the management is poor (the media also seems to put a sinister spin on Mory et. al.), or at least incapable of doing a good job now that the company is no longer a small startup. I would like to see ASND add more management depth by hiring some more veterans like Ashby.

2) they are a "flash in the pan" that will be steamrolled by CSCO

Comforting (but most importantly candid) words about (1) and (2) would be greatly appreciated. I have never owned one of these controversial momentum stocks before, so I am a newcomer to all these sinister rumors and speculation and it is unsettling to say the least. (I certainly am no newcomer to owning plunging stocks however :)

Thanks in advance.
