Speaking of the rich. There are sure a lot of them in congress. None of these rich people pay into SS, but they will all get cushy retirements and the very best health care available.

They will be hospitalized "for observation." Dare anyone here to try to get that to happen -- no matter what your insurance.

If the system collapses those making over $106,000 should be last.

If there ever were such a complete collapse, as you suggest, I would advocate dividing up whatever was left, proportionally, based on what each person paid into the system, rather than saying "the poorest shall be paid off first".

Why should a person earning over $106,000/year be punished for the crimes of the U.S. government? Even in a doomsday collapse scenario, I think that even Bill Gates should get back his fair share of what he paid in (proportionally adjusted based on whatever remains in the trust funds, if anything).

I agree with TexBanker. This entire predicament should make people "torches and pitchforks" mad! The problem is, who is left to place the blame on?!?!? This ponzi scheme has been going on for decades. Generations of politicians have profited from the ruse and they lived large as a result. Many of them have long since died. No one is really left around to bear responsibility for the social security and medicare disasters.

Our only recourse now is to elect representatives and senators who will dismantle the beast. I trust that responsible citizens will fare well if left alone. Irresponsible citizens must learn to take responsibility for their own lives, retirements, health care, etc., or face extinction.

My wife and I have always planned to live without social security and medicare. We don't need it. We are completely ready to do so if the damned government would stay out of our lives. Although we do not need social security and medicare, it angers me far beyond words to know that the lying bastards have robbed over the course of my entire working life, because we could have spent the money they stole from us on things of our own choosing.

Instead, the fat-cat politicians all have fleets of new cars, new swimming pools, third and fourth homes, villas abroad, and fatter bank accounts than mine because they robbed me (and you) to take care of their own, selfish wants and desires...all nice and legal, of course! -ng-

The bastards are thieves and leeches! -ng-
